We’re looking forward to welcoming our elementary families for conferences next week and our secondary families later in October for this important check in on student progress. Thank you for connecting with teachers! 

Community connections bring lessons to life

At Kuna School District, our "Future Ready" commitment is powered by an incredible network of community and business partnerships that help bring learning to life. Alongside our strong academic foundation and robust Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs, these real-world collaborations give students unique opportunities to make connections outside the classroom.

This month, we’ve seen 
  • our high school students peeked into specialized medical career pathways with a special U.S. Army exhibit
  • our middle school students will explore with different opportunities, career paths with employers as well as school program through the facts and snacks programs.  
  • our youngest students are learning about community (and safety) with visits from our local police, fire and parks departments. 

When our community steps up to mentor, educate, and inspire, our students see direct connections between their classroom lessons and their future possibilities.

Connecting with our community to share KSD's successes

We are also engaging with our community by sharing the Kuna School District’s impact, and I was thrilled to update the Kuna Chamber of Commerce earlier this month. In addition, we are participating in the City of Kuna’s Strategic Planning effort.

Celebrate with us at Homecoming

Civic pride and school spirit go hand-in-hand, and that shared energy will be on full display as we cap off this exciting week with Homecoming at Kuna High School!  (Details below.)

Whether you are a die-hard football fan or simply coming out to catch up with neighbors, Homecoming brings communities together. 

That spirit is alive and well as our student leaders host a Homecoming carnival and our Kavemen welcome back the Class of 1976, who are generously giving back to KHS by planting trees at the school.

Thank you for your continued partnership, your community spirit, and all you do to support our students as we empower the leaders of tomorrow.

FYI: May 2027 Calendar Change for Elementary Students

New state legislation, effective July 1, 2026, prohibits student instruction at school sites designated as election polling places. 

In the May 18, 2027 election, we expect several of our elementary schools to be used as polling places. The school board approved the cancellation of school for elementary students only on May 18, 2027. Our elementary staff will use the day for professional development.

The November 3, 2026 Election already is a no school day. 
 

Homecoming Carnival Friday from 4-6 pm

Kuna High School student leaders (CAST) are hosting their annual homecoming carnival 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 on KHS's softball fields. Wristbands are $10.

Mark Your Calendars for the Oct. 16 First Responders & Military Appreciation Event

A promotional flyer for the 5th Annual First Responders and Military Appreciation Night at Kuna High School on Friday, October 16th.
The 5th Annual First Responder and Military Appreciation Night will be held Oct. 16 at the KHS football game. 

As part of the celebration, the event features a Black Hawk helicopter, a pregame ceremony, military & first responder vehicles, food trucks, and more!

Our First Responders and Military are invited to:

  • Free BBQ Dinner: Provided for First responders, military members & their families – 5:00 PM
  • Early Entry: First responders & military families – 5:00 PM
  • Gates Open for Students & Fans: 6:00 PM
  • On-Field Celebration: 6:15 PM
  • Kickoff: 7 PM

Supporting Our Students: Introducing the Feed the Kavemen Fund!

The Kuna Education Foundation has established the Feed the Kavemen Fund! 

In our district, "Kavemen" is an inclusive term representing all Kuna School District students, regardless of individual school mascots. This new fund connects community resources directly to our school meal programs, ensuring every child stays nourished and ready to learn.

How the Fund Helps

Donations go directly to district schools for the sole purpose of covering lunch costs and providing snacks for students. You can choose to support a specific school or contribute to the general fund. General donations are distributed based on school need and help purchase on-hand snacks.

Why Your Support Matters
  • Middle & High Schools: Secondary students are not permitted to carry negative lunch account balances.
  • Elementary Schools: Elementary students may accrue negative balances. Over the past few years, our six elementary schools have accumulated between $18,000 and $22,000 in lunch debt annually.

Paint with a Purpose

  • Date: Wednesday, October 21
  • Cost: $35 per person
  • Includes: Guided paint experience, all art supplies, and artful bites.
  • Note: Only 40 tickets are available, so be sure to reserve your spot early!
