Application Process for 2024-2025:
- Submit the Application [Click Here For Application]:
The first step is to complete the application form available on the Initial Point High School website. This application gathers preliminary information needed to assess eligibility and placement into our program.
- Waitlist and Enrollment Review:
Admission to Initial Point is not on a first-come, first-served basis. A few weeks before each quarter (Remaining Entry Points: January 21 for Quarter 3, and March 31 for Quarter 4), we review our current enrollment to determine how many open spots we have. We then begin contacting families from our waitlist.
- Intake Interviews:
Every student on the waitlist is contacted for an intake interview. The purpose of the interview is to ensure that Initial Point is a good fit for both the student and the school. This interview process is a critical part of understanding the student's needs and how we can best support their academic and personal growth.
- Transcript Review:
After the interview, our school counselor will review the student's transcript to determine which credits are still needed for graduation. This step helps us assess whether we can accommodate the student’s needs within our master schedule.
- Offer of Enrollment:
At this point, if everything checks out, we will contact the family to offer a spot in our school. At that point, additional orientation steps will be outlined to help the student integrate smoothly into our learning environment.
Prioritization of Admission:
Admission is not based on the order of application submission. We prioritize our waitlist based on several factors:
- The number of qualifying at-risk criteria met.
- How close the student is to their graduation deadline.
- The severity of the student's need for alternative education.
- Whether we are able to serve the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), if applicable.
This process ensures that we are serving the students most in need of our services while maintaining the integrity of our academic programs.
Looking Ahead: The application for the 2025-2026 school year will be published in April 2025. Families are encouraged to apply early so that we can begin the intake process for the next academic year as soon as possible.
